NBA JALINGO BRANCH PAYS WORKING VISIT TO SUMTV MEDIA
In furtherance of its commitment to engaging relevant stakeholders in the justice sector and promoting the rule of law, the Leadership of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Jalingo Branch, led by the Branch Chairman, Dr. Daniel P. Saredau, paid a working visit to SUMTV Media on 7 September 2026. The delegation was warmly received at the station by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of SUMTV, Chief Olayinka Gabriel. The visit provided an opportunity for the Branch to engage with the media on matters concerning the legal profession, the administration of justice and issues of public interest in Taraba State. As part of the engagement, Dr. Saredau was featured in an exclusive 30-minute live interview on SUMTV, during which he presented the vision and strategic direction of his administration and discussed key aspects of the Branch’s 12-point agenda. The Chairman highlighted, among other priorities, the Branch’s commitment to improving the welfare of lawyers, through initiatives aimed at enhancing the professional wellbeing and socio-economic standing of members. He also spoke on the proposed Bar-Bench-Security Trialogue, a collaborative framework designed to promote greater coordination and efficiency among key stakeholders in the justice system. Another major area of focus was prison decongestion, which the Chairman identified as an important priority in addressing overcrowding in correctional facilities and advancing the protection of the rights of persons in custody. The discussion also provided an opportunity to communicate the Branch’s broader policy thrust and strategic plans to the public. In his remarks, the CEO of SUMTV, Chief Olayinka Gabriel, welcomed the NBA delegation and commended the leadership of the Branch for the initiatives undertaken since the commencement of its tenure. He particularly called for sustained and concerted efforts towards addressing the issue of prison congestion in Taraba State, noting its importance to human rights and effective justice delivery. Chief Olayinka further pledged the continued support of SUMTV Media to the NBA Jalingo Branch, assuring the Branch of robust media coverage and publicity for its activities, programmes and public-interest initiatives. The working visit reinforces the NBA Jalingo Branch’s commitment to using strategic partnerships and public engagement to advance the interests of the legal profession, promote access to justice and strengthen the rule of law in Taraba State.
